Professional wrestling involves violence, arrogance, vanity, and fraud(because it's fake). Christianity has nothing to do with any of these. Isn't there some way to do the Lord's work without resorting to an area that is famous for these satanic qualities?

    William,
I think God wants us to go to anywhere there are people who need to be saved, and approach them in any way they are willing to listen. Whatever we (as God's people) have to do to open up someone's heart to the Lord, we should do. Sometimes, it's offering someone food, sometimes it's doing a kind deed, sometimes it's a listening ear and sometimes it can be free entertainment! If a Christian based, wrestling show can get someone in the door to hear the wonderful news of eternal life, why not do it?? I hope that you will come see a show and then post again. Check the schedule for upcoming dates!

    God bless you!
  • William, you bring up some interesting points there. Sounds like you've seen a CWF show before!
It is professional wrestling - so yes, there are "fights" (aka matches), there are heals that are arrogant and vane and yes, the matches don't really feature two guys duking it out to the death - they're all friends and love each other like brothers.
But perhaps we can rethink some of the things you brought out.
Like any professional wrestling group or show you'll see, the CWF is all about telling stories.
Personally, I love stories. They help me understand God.
I love stories in books, I love stories in movies and I love stories shared over a cup of coffee with friends. It's amazing how much Truth you can find in any story if you're looking at it through a God lens.
In fact, the Bible is FULL of stories. And what I love about the stories in the Bible, is they all lead to one amazing redemptive story. God's redemption of mankind. And ultimately, those are the stories the CWF tells each and every time they put on an event.
Redemptive stories that point to the cross.
Which, speaking of is a pretty violent story. Full of arrogant, vane people who were frauds in their religious pioty. And yet God brought out the greatest redemption story of all time through them.
So, sure, there are ways to do the Lord's work without telling these types of stories but these guys have a passion for what they do and they're reaching a group of people that may not have a passion for romantic comedies.
And it's reasuring to me to know that God loves to slip out from underneath rocks, alleyways and off the beaten path to open up our eyes.
Hope to see you at one of the next CWF shows. Shalom!

What has happened to Jeremey Young?
  • Chris
Jeremy Young has not wrestled for CWF since late 2003 or early 2004. He was most recently active on the independent wrestling circuit in the southwest United States.

What happened to former heavyweight champion Jeremey Young? Is he still wrestling?
